General Info

The Continuous Learning plan for Fredonia Junior Senior High features three components: Live Learning Time (LLT), activities, and office hours.  Students will participate in class mods one through four on Monday and Wednesday, for a maximum of 45 minutes per class. Students will participate in class mods five through eight on Tuesday and Thursday, for a maximum of 45 minutes per class.  Therefore, the total amount of time a student may participate in any combination of Continuous Learning activities each day is three hours:

The Continuous Learning Plan at Lincoln Elementary and Fredonia Early Learning Center utilizes the same structures of Live Learning Time (LLT), activities and office hours.  The schedule at these grade levels is adjusted to meet daily in order to meet the time frames recommended by the Continuous Learning Task Force.

Live Learning Time

We believe that face-to-face interaction between teachers and students is critically important to learning.  Although teachers and students are unable to meet in person, they have the ability to meet virtually via Zoom and Canvas’ Conversations feature.  This time is scheduled by the teachers for once per week, and features direct instruction, group discussions, demonstrations, and much more. We are fortunate that technology has advanced to the point that this is possible!  If a student is unable to participate in Live Learning Time, they will be able to access a recording of the session via Canvas later that day! Elementary teachers share links to recordings via Google Classroom and Class Dojo.  Teachers have been advised to avoid simple question and answer sessions during this time, and provide more interactive learning moments with their students.

Activities

In addition to Live Learning Time, courses consist of a variety of unique and engaging learning activities.  These include materials to read, group discussions, virtual field trips and structured practice (assignments).  These activities complement the live lessons provided for students. Completion of these activities are outlined by the teacher and may carry over several days to ensure that students are not exceeding the allotted learning time per day.

Office Hours

Each teacher at Fredonia Junior Senior High will be available for structured office hours of two hours each Friday.  During this time teachers will be available to answer questions. This will occur via Zoom. All teachers will share their schedule of office hours with students via Canvas. Teachers may schedule additional communication and office hours outside of Friday.

Office hours at Lincoln Elementary and Fredonia Early Learning Center occur daily.  In addition to this, parents and students may communicate with the teacher to arrange additional supports for student tutoring.

Assignments

All assignments that are posted in Canvas, Google Classroom, or other online classroom sites will be required to be submitted by posted due date in the proper format.  Teachers will list the format, along with all information about the requirements, in each assignment description.

Attendance

Students need to sign in to Canvas, Google Classroom, or other online classroom sites, check email and work towards completing required activities each day.  Due to the flexible nature of our Continuous Learning Plan, and the robustness of the technology we are utilizing, students have flexibility to do their work at different times of the day in order to best meet the needs of each individual. Attendance will primarily be tracked based on the completion of assignments.
